Our primary focus at The Houstonian is to replace our annual attrition with minimal growth to our membership.
According to gym membership statistics published by the IHRSA (International Health and Racquet Sports Association), gyms, health clubs and fitness centers have an annual attrition rate of 28.6%. The Houstonian Club has one of the lowest attrition rates in the country, which is currently at 4%. This attrition is mostly due to relocation with other reasons including non-use, medical, death, and expulsion.
Our priority is to replace attrition with new club Members who embrace our values and culture of inclusion, respect, diversity, and continuous improvement. New Members are sponsored by active Members in good standing. New Members without a sponsor are required to meet with the Director of Membership and in some circumstances, a previous club reference is required.
We require that all Members abide by The Houstonian Club’s Code of Conduct and Rules and Regulations. Those documents are located on our Member website at myhoustonian.com and on the Houstonian app. Our priority is for all Members to have an extraordinary experience when they visit our campus. We achieve this with mutual respect for both our Members and our staff and an open mind to continuous improvement.
We are excited to announce that our fastest growing category is our Legacy and Young Adults membership categories. Legacy Members are between the ages of 25-34 and are dependents of active Houstonian Club Members. Legacy Members are given a 30% discount on the initiation fee as well as the ability to pay a portion of the initiation fee now and the remaining balance at the age of 35. Young Adult Members are between the ages of 25-34, do not receive a discount but are also given the option to pay half of the initiation fee now and the remaining balance at the age of 35. It is important to note that the future of our Club is our next generation of Members.
